For this renovation project, Bathrooms of Cowbridge seamlessly blended traditional and modern elements to create a timeless cloakroom within a grade-listed farmhouse property. The design sought to preserve the property's period features while introducing contemporary elements that harmonize with the existing style.
Wood-effect tiles in a soft walnut finish were carefully chosen to complement the ceiling beams and wooden windowsill decals, reinforcing the natural materials found throughout the property. To accentuate the area behind the basin vanity, limestone-effect tiles were selected for the wall, ensuring their tones matched those used in other parts of the home. This choice gave the space a cohesive, enduring feel, making it appear as though the cloakroom had always been part of the property.
A Shaker-style, free-standing vanity unit became a central feature of the room, offering ample storage with a central drawer pack and two curved side units. The client opted for a soft pop of colour in the vanity, selecting a peacock blue finish paired with a contrasting white solid-surface worktop. To further elevate the design, a matching cornice statement mirror was added, and opulent brushed brass handles, brassware, and wall lights were used to complete the space.
Bathrooms of Cowbridge also integrated an antique brass and white traditional-style towel rail, elegantly placed under the window, adding both function and visual appeal. The space was painted in a coordinated colour palette, with the wall next to the vanity matching the peacock blue, while the rest was painted in Farrow & Ball's Bone.
